Series Premise

The Children of Carcosa, a supernatural death cult, seeks to open a gateway to the city of Carcosa, the cosmic home of the godlike entity responsible for creation itself: Hastur, the YELLOW KING. The cult’s young, idealistic prophet, Hedy, is determined to seize the throne and force a “humanistic utopia” upon reality by ascending to godhood.

However, the key to Carcosa lies in an unlikely vessel: Ben Callahan, a dementia-ridden Vietnam veteran once secretly sent on a covert Cold War mission to find Carcosa and neutralize the Yellow King. Ben was the mission’s only survivor, and the only living soul who knows how to return.

Special Agent Rebecca Paley, herself a former child of the cult, loses half her FBI team in a failed attempt to stop Hedy’s ascension. Knowing Carcosa will eventually drive her, and everyone, into insanity, she recruits Winston Chang, a rookie VA psychologist desperate for career advancement, to draw Ben out through “therapy” — not to heal him, but to unlock the cosmic pathway still buried in his memory.

As Winston unearths Ben’s past, reality begins to warp around him. The more Ben speaks, the more Carcosa bleeds into the world, reshaping Winston’s perception, sanity, and eventually the rules of reality itself.

Paley believes that someone must take the throne before Hedy does, that there is no way back from madness except through divinity. Winston wants out, but Paley forces him to continue the cosmic game, knowing there is no escape from a new reality already crumbling with Ben’s every word.

Part FBI procedural, part supernatural descent into godhood and insanity, the story becomes a four-way chess match for the ultimate prize: the power to become a god. As reality frays and the boundary between memory and myth collapses, Winston begins to fear the unthinkable:

Was Ben ever the pawn or has he always been the YELLOW KING?

SERIES ENGINE

Each episode pairs psychological excavation with the supernatural fallout of memory:

THE SESSION
Ben’s suppressed memory is unlocked — a fragment of his past inside Carcosa resurfaces.

THE CONSEQUENCE
That revelation warps the listener and bleeds into the physical world: a sigil outbreak, cultists gaining transdimensional abilities, the sudden appearance of a yellow-armored giant walking through town, or a psychic rupture that drives the surrounding population toward madness.
